Talk about an improvement over the original film. The pacing’s tighter, the traps are more elaborate and creative, the film’s tension is more palpable, the direction is more focused, and the film’s ending is one of the most satisfying horror endings ever committed to film. Plus, it doesn’t hurt one iota that you could choose to watch this as a standalone horror film and just ignore the original. If you’re looking for something realistic (this film seriously flirts with the suspension of disbelief), move far away from this film. But for those looking to assuage their Saw fix, and you managed to overlook this, this is an above average torture porn for fans of the genre.
