This film is often considered one of the quintessential mockumentary films, and it’s not hard to see why. It’s sharp, funny, observational, emulates the chic of the rock and roll style documentaries pretty well, in some cases spot-on, and even works in some playful jabs at some of the crazier elements of rock and roll, without ever feeling mean-spirited; it always feels like it’s done in a loving way. It may not always be laugh out loud funny, but it is at the very least almost always amusing or engaging. This will probably mean a lot more to fans of rock and roll but this is still an entertaining and fun film that has a high level of appeal.
