Peter Berg, after directing three great films in a row, has finally directed his first turkey in six years. The film’s plot is virtually incomprehensible nonsense, as if the film’s erratic, poorly written dialogue, disjointed pacing, and poor editing are attempting to mask that the writer’s inability to tell a comprehensible story. I’m not even sure what this film is trying to make a political statement about, but I know they’re trying to make a statement about something; that’s how incomprehensible the film’s plot is. Mark Wahlberg’s character is an unlikable douchebag, the action is poorly executed, and the editing is atrociously chaotic. The opening scene is the only decent part. The rest is hot garbage.
