Has the feel of an old fashioned hard-boiled mystery thriller, and I mean that in the best possible way. While Tom Cruise may not match the physical description of the gargantuan Jack Reacher of the books, he certainly captures both the confidence and badass nature of the character. As an adaptation, this does a great job; keeping what should be kept, while making changes when necessary. The action is fantastic, including a great car chase, the plot progression is great and flows naturally, and this is a genuinely compelling mystery. This is a fun and deeply entertaining popcorn film that shows how sometimes the basic and old-fashioned ways to tell a story can still be just as compelling as they were decades ago.
