This film legitimately feels like the script was originally written to be a parody of slasher films, then halfway through, they changed their mind and decided to make it a straightforward slasher film, but forgot to change what they’d written prior. It’s just tonally inconsistent throughout. There are some well-done kill scenes, especially one in particular where a Michael Myers killing spree is conveyed in one continuous camera shot, but there are others that are completely laughable once you give it even the tiniest bit of thought. The film is at least engaging and watchable for a huge chunk of the runtime, although sometimes for the wrong reasons. For the true ending of the Halloween franchise though, I think I’ll stick to Halloween II.
