Are we allowed to say that the Fault in Our Stars type plot isn’t original, or exciting, or creative anymore, if it ever was? These types of films allow themselves to the worst aspects of YA romance stories; emotional manipulation, faux complexity, and trite, saccharine nonsense posing as drama. This film is no exception to any of those. There is no better word to describe this film than just, “bleh!” The dialogue is insipid. The characters are awfully written. This movie is predictable to a tee, without a subversive bone in its body. And it’s boring as crap. You feel every second of this travesty scrape by, and you’ll only wish that you’d spent your time more wisely, doing literally anything else.
